Mindfulness Yoga

What is Mindfulness yoga?

Mindfulness Yoga integrates the practice of Hatha Yoga asanas with Mindfulness techniques on awareness of breath, mindfulness, and acceptance of the here and now. During the asanas, the yogi explores the body, its limits and its potential, learns to respect it, to listen to it and to maintain the right tension. The master guides the yogi into awareness, physically assists him in asanas, and mentally supports him. Mindfulness Yoga helps to see who we are, to accept our story without judgment, but with compassion and gratitude; ultimately, it shows us the point from which all transformations can begin.

How is a Mindfulness Yoga session composed?

A Mindfulness Yoga session lasts an hour and a quarter on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Each session is structured by a first part of meditation in a comfortable position (Sukhasana), in which, after a first observation of the self and listening to the breath, a breathing technique (Pranayama) is introduced; subsequently, we start with the practice of asanas. It ends with the final meditation in the position of Savasana, which represents the end of a cycle in which the yogi has the opportunity to metabolize the asanas just done, relaxing the body and mind.

What is a Mindfulness Yoga Path?

The Mindfulness Yoga path consists of an initial phase, in which the Master together with the client establishes the mental and body areas to be developed and strengthened. These areas are made stronger and more flexible through the practice of asanas, pranyamas, and meditation. On the basis of this first phase, the Sankalpas (Sanskrit for objectives / intentions) are defined to be pursued in this journey. Of note, yoga is a continuous practice where the macro-objective is always practicing, appreciating and enjoying every movement of the body and fluctuation of the mind in a state of eternal observation.
